Based in Dunblane for the last 25 years

Career History
Prior to working as an independant freelance programmer, Bernie was Senior Programmer for a software company specialising in Property Management Systems for 19 years, gaining a wealth of experience with various programming languages including dBase, FoxBase, Foxpro, Visual Foxpro, SQL Server, ASP and c#.

During this time Bernie was heavily involved in all stages of a system redesign and web-enablement exercise. She gained a proficiency with report writers R&R and Crystal Reports and became the in-house expert on linking existing systems to external accounting and GIS packages.

Bernie's career started as a Claims clerk for a Stirling based major life assurance company.
Her interest in programming began when she assisted in testing a new PC computer system (on original Apple desktop computers!). At the same time, Bernie studied and passed the professional exams to become an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute. After sitting an aptitude test for programming ability and gaining higher marks than the IT graduates, Bernie worked as a Cobol and Algol programmer, gaining 5 years experience working on Burroughs mainframes and mini-computers.
